Great throwback interview and feature on 2nd year Lakers reserve Derek Fisher who became a starter when Nick Van Exel suffered an injury.  I wish I could of inserted here that he started putting up monster type numbers but Nick’s absence only meant more shots for Shaq, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell, Rick Fox, Robert Horry and a bench player named Kobe Bryant.

When Nick did return, Fisher kept the starting gig and the Lakers used Nick and Kobe as instant offense off the bench.

Since we are on Lakers throwbacks here’s a mix I made 10 years ago on the 97 Lakers made from my own personal Lakers VHS archive.  I’ll obviously take the post NVE/Eddie dynasty Lakers and the 80’s Showtime Lakers over this squad but in terms of highlights, this mix and match of human highlight films easily ranks for me as one of the most exciting teams of all-time.
