Life without Dwight Howard wont be nowhere as big of an adjustment as life without Shaq for Kobe Bryant. If Hakeem and his 85% sure feeling that Dwight will sign with the Rockets comes true then Kobe will be playing next season without the bootleg version of Shaq.
In this flashback to 2004 interview with Kobe Bryant, former teammate Jack Haley puts Kobe in the hot seat asking him about his role in Phil Jackson and Shaq’s departure from LA. He also talked about putting his foot in the free agent waters and considering making a LA uniform change.
“I could see myself playing for the Clippers. Ultimately, it was in my heart to play for the Lakers,”
Kobe’s decision to stay with the Lakers for another 7 years came a day after the franchise traded franchise player Shaq to Miami for Lamar Odom, Caron Butler and Brian Grant.
Jack Haley always seemed to be able to get away with questions that most reporters couldn’t get away with in interviews with Kobe. He even interviewed Kobe about the rumors that Karl Malone was “hitting” on Kobe’s wife.
