Shaq dominated Nets center Nendad Krstic (1-10 FG) with 24 points and 14 rebounds but he and the rest of the Heat had no answer for Vince Carter.
“Basically, one guy beat us. … Vince was unbelievable,” Heat coach Pat Riley said.
That one guy tied his career-high with 51 points and 37 of those 51 came in the 2nd half. Carter also set a team record by making 23 free throws out of 24 attempts.
“Outstanding would be an understatement,” Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. “Vince Carter took us on his shoulder and did a phenomenal job.”
