It looks like we have a dynasty in the TBT aka The Million(s) Dollar Basketball Tournament.
This past weekend, team Overseas Elite, which is boostered by CJ McCollum and features his brother, Errick MCollum (who scored 82 points in China a couple years ago), former NBA player DeJuan Blair and 2016 TBT MVP Kyle Frogg, completed a three-peat in the three-year old tournament.
McCollum and Blair struggled, hitting just 3 of 14 shots combined. But, DJ Kennedy knocked down 7 of 10 shots for 18 points and Frogg scored 18 of his game-high 29 points during a 10-minute stretch to help his team pull off a 86-83 win over Team ALS Challenge, which featured Casper Ware and Austin Daye.
For the second year in a row the former Arizona Wildcat was named MVP and the win brings the team’s total cash prize to $5 million ($1M in 2015, $2M in 2016, $2M in 2017)! Frogg will “only” get $147,500 of the $2 million prize for the latest championship but earlier in the summer he signed a deal with the Guangzhou Long-Lions in China worth $2 million per year for the next couple of years so he’s good.
