32 year old Lakers rookie Marcelo Huertas probably played the most forgettable 15 minutes of his pro career on Tuesday night. Actually, for most fans of basketball and Shaqtin’ a Fool type plays, his 15 minutes were as memorable as anything he’s done in his pro career.
It all started in the 2nd quarter when the shot blocking beast that is Tyler Johnson (he averaged 0.3 blocks last season) swatted Marcelo’s awkward off 1-leg 3-point shot. Marcelo caught the rejected shot and then threw a over-the-head airball at the buzzer.
Then in the 4th quarter Tyler struck again – this time with an ankle breaking crossover. As Tyler drove past him and hit the and 1 layup, Marcelo had this expression on his face as if he was hit in the gut.
If those highlights weren’t bad enough, the Lakers lost to the Heat 101-88 and Marcelo finished with 2 points (1-3 fg), 4 assists and 3 turnovers in 15 minutes.
