“He tanked the layup!” shouted a joking LeBron James about Kyrie Irving missing his first shot in a NBA game in 6 months.
“I didn’t know I was going to be that open at the rim,” explained Irving.
After 4 more misses, Irving got his first bucket early in the 2nd quarter and there was no chance of him “tanking” this one.
“I was on my way to the rim and I saw Ky,” James said. “He had missed his first couple shots and I was like the best way to come back is to get a layup, get an easy one and it was only right I was able to find him, welcoming him back the best way I know how.”
It would be the assist of the night and the easiest assist and bucket of the night. Ky would go on to make 4 more buckets on 7 attempts and finished with 12 points, 4 assists, 2 3-pointers and 2 steals in 17 minutes.
The Cavs outscored the 76ers 34-13 in the 2nd quarter and won the game 108-86.
