Down by just three points with a little less than eight minutes left in regulation, DeMarcus Cousins lost his cool and pushed Joakim Noah (welcome back!) after a personal foul. The refs handed out a double-tech and Cousins missed the first of two freebies. He then missed four of his next five shots as the Kings ended up losing by eight to the Knicks, who gave up 18 straight points to the Kings in the 3rd quarter.
Cousins had a game-high 36 points and 12 boards but was just 9 of 30 from the field and 4 of 10(!) from downtown.
“Coach tried to take me out at the end of the third with like a minute left. I begged him could I stay in,” Cousins said. “I thought he was going to take me out at the beginning of the fourth but he stayed with me. Just tried to stay aggressive and keep pushing. It was a tough one tonight, but I like our team’s effort. I liked that we kept fighting.”
As for Noah, he was just 1 of 4 from the field and 0-4 from the free throw line as the Kings played hack-a-Noah near the end of the 4th.
