App Review: SWAG – New Online Magazine from Champs ft Kevin Durant & Brandon Jennings
Champs sports has released a new interactive magazine available for the Iphone and Android phones called SWAG (Stylish Ways to Acquire Game). Kevin Durant is featured on the premier issue’s cover and main story called “Natural Born Scorer.” You can watch a snippet above where KD talks about what rappers he would sign to his label and also how knowledgeable he is when it comes to hip hop songs with hoop references (below).
KD also provided a decent playlist to share. Nice to see Kendrick Lamar, who performed at our Ballislife All-American Game, on this list.
- The Recipe – Kendrick Lamar & Dr Dre
- Actin Up – Wale
- Crew Love – Drake
- Where Have You Been – Rihanna
- So Sophisticated – Rick Ross
- Thinking about You – Frank Ocean
- Hot Thing – Usher
- Goldie – A$ap Rocky
- Daughters – Nas
- Nobody’s Perfect – J.Cole
Other hoop stories in the issue include “The Many Nicknames of Jeremy Lin” an article on the Air Jordan VI & VII in a section called “Throwback Glory,” “Inspired Glory” about hip hop jeweler Gabriel Urist and a cool feature where editor Lee Maestro hangs out with Brandon Jennings (below).
The App has a great look and smooth feel to it. You move your fingers left and right to access articles, click on thumbs to watch videos within the layout, up and down to read more and tap products and clothes to purchase! While most people are coming out with “apps” that are nothing more than online versions of their website (you better not accuse of us of that 🙂 with the Ballislife app because we have some crazy additional features coming as well as our own interactive mag) I have to give credit to Champs for coming out with an application that has high quality content and also impresses on the technology side.
The only possible negative is the magazines are stored on your phone and can take up a decent amount of space. The 1st issue is 258mb and if you have too many booty pics on your phone then you might have to delete some to enjoy the future issues of SWAG.
