Arkansas beats Kentucky in OT on a Michael Qualls putback dunk
Arkansas’ Michael Qualls has a pretty impressive portfolio of dunks and facials over the past couple of years but his best dunk came last night. It wasn’t a between the legs variation and it wasn’t an and 1 poster dunk. The reason why his putback dunk last night is his best is because it happened with .2 seconds left on the clock and gave his team a 2 point win over Kentucky.
“Crashing the boards in that type of situation is the best time to crash the boards,” Qualls said. “They forget about you. I just saw an opportunity and took it.”
It was total pandemonium as all of his teammates jumped up and down in celebration. Well, almost all. Rashad Madden is the teammate that attempted the 3 pointer that was missed and then caught by Qualls. After he attempted the 3 and knew it was a miss he started to run back down the court and missed seeing the game winner.
I’m sure the screaming was a pleasant surprise.
“It was an unbelievable finish,” Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said. “He just came out of nowhere. It was fortunate for us he was playing for the Razorbacks.”
