Everybody remembers the players that rises and “chokes” in the NBA finals. Every bad shot and turnover by a star player on a losing team and every made shot, block or pass by the star player on the winning team gets magnified. Enter the great Jerry West and Bill Russell. West is known as one of the best offensive players in playoff history and Russell was one of the best on D. In game 6 of the 1963 finals, that D was on full display when Russell blocked 8 shots including 5 on Jerry West.
This game is just a trivial moment that doesn’t put a dent in Jerry West’s legacy but it’s one of countless moments that displays the greatness of Bill Russell.
