According to The Vertical, Blake Griffin will undergo “minor” knee surgery this week to “clean up” his right knee and is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks…Merry Christmas Clippers’ fans!
This not-so-great Holiday news came just hours after Blake put up 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists against the Wizards and days after the NBA released a commercial, headlined by Blake, who is having a great season – averaging 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4.6 assists – singing about the upcoming Christmas games, which will now feature a Blake-less Clippers playing the Kobe-less Lakers. Bah-humbug!
Although the injury isn’t considered “serious,” it’s unexpected unfortunate news to a must-have piece on the championship contending Clippers and unfortunate news Clippers fans are used to hearing year after year.
This is the 3rd time Blake has had some form of knee surgery: right knee in college (2008) and left kneecap during his rookie season (2010).
