Bradley Beal has perfect timing. The Wizards haven’t won in 5 games and haven’t won in MSG since the injured Beal was learning to shoot in the 7th grade but thanks to Beal, who returned after a nine-game absence and scored 14 of his 21 points in the 4th quarter, the streaks are over. The last 2 of the 14 point outburst turned out to be a game winning layup with 6.9 left on the clock after Melo missed a horrible shot at the buzzer.
“I don’t think there’s any other team in the NBA that we want to beat more than the New York Knicks, especially here in Madison Square Garden,” center Marcin Gortat said. “It was a great win.”
Before Beal went down with an injury, he wasn’t just making a case for rookie of the year but he was a making a case as the best shooting guard in the East. After this confidence builder, I expect Beal to continue making those cases.
“That’s number one, of course,” Beal said about his performance compared to past ones.
