Brandon Ingram was 0-5 in his first preseason game and 5-21 after his first four games. We said don’t worry. Luke Walton said don’t worry.
On Saturday against Kevin Durant and the Warriors, Ingram had his first game in double figures with 12 points on 50% shooting. In a rematch on Wednesday, Ingram had a breakout game and knocked down 7 of 10 shots (2 of 3 from 3) on his way to 21 points. He also had 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals (all 3 are preseason highs) to go with his first 20 point game.
After the game, Coach Luke Walton said Ingram is further along as a basketball player than he’d expect anyone to be out of college.
“I think I’m making progressions every time I step on the floor,” Ingram said. “Coach Luke, Coach Shaw, they’re putting me in good positions with the ball in my hand. I kind of thrive in that position.”
