Knicks and Wizards games this season will probably be marketed as Derrick Rose vs John Wall, but after last night’s preseason game between the two teams, they might want to market a rematch between Drew League legends and friends Brandon Jennings and Casper Ware.
Near the end of the 3rd quarter, Jennings had the MSG crowd roaring and chanting his name after he scored on a teardrop, bumped Ware, got into his face and then started clapping his hands and hyping up the crowd the way John Starks used to do it in the 90s. Jennings followed up the theatrics with a 3 and a foul on Ware and a lot more celebrating.
Ware wasn’t the only Wizard Jennings made a highlight out of. In the first quarter, he had flash spin move on Otto Porter, which led to a dunk by Godzingis.
Jenning finished the game with 11 points, 3 boards, 3 3-pointers and 1 assist in 26 minutes. After the game, he talked about the joy of playing in New York, hearing his name chanted by 20,000 people and trash-talking with Ware.
If you aren’t familiar with Ware, the 5’10 Long Beach alum recently won the Finals MVP award in France after leading Tony Parker’s ASVEL team to a French League championship and won the Drew League Championship and Finals MVP award after putting on an epic performance, which included 27 points and 5 consecutive 3-pointers in a single quarter.
