Charles Barkley Still Hates The Warriors, Says They Play “Girly Basketball” & Will Get “Mauled” In The Playoffs
The last time Charles Barkley liked the Warriors was probably during the Run TMC era. You can blame Nike, Sprewell and Chris Webber for that. Ever since their 1994 commercial that made fun of Barkley getting dunked on by Webber, he’s been going off on them on the court and off. He’s been especially critical of them during the Splash Bros era and even more so since KD joined. Before the TNT double-header on Thursday, which included the Warriors going against his former Rockets team, he continued to share his hate for Curry, KD and crew.
“Maybe I’m old school, but I’m never going to like that little girly basketball where you have to outscore people,” said Barkley. “I’m biased against girl basketball.”
When asked by Kenny Smith if he’s ever watched NCAA powerhouse UConn play, Barkley responded with, “I love [UConn coach] Geno Auriemma, one of my favorite people. I love women’s college basketball. But I don’t want it in the NBA.”
I guess Barkley didn’t like the NBA when he first came into the league either, because the early 80s was all about trying to outscore your opponents; During Barkely’s rookie season, every team in the league averaged over 100 points per game, the Nuggets 120 and the champion Lakers 118.
Later on that night, after the Rockets beat the Warriors in double OT, Barkley said, “them little dudes are gonna get mauled” in the playoffs.
