The always funny and quotable Charles Barkley was on Conan earlier this week to make fun of two people he knows pretty well – his teasing co-host Shaq and friend Michael Jordan.
Chuck had some amusing comments about Shaq’s “fat a$$” and how he probably films his “man up” lotion and car commercials in the same day because the lotion is needed to get Shaq into a Buick.
Conan then asked Barkley about his generous tipping of “waiters, waitresses and blackjack dealers” and asked who were the cheapest players he knows of. Barkley named the Bulls’ Pippen and Jordan as the cheapest and then told a story that will surprise people that believe Jordan is a GOD and just amuse the rest of us who have heard and read more negative stories about Jordan than any other player in NBA history (keep in mind, we didn’t even have social media and TMZ during MJ’s career).
Barkley said when he would give money to homeless people, Michael Jordan would slap his hand and say “if they can ask you for spare change they can say welcome to McDonalds may I help you please.”
Barkley’s history of public comments about Jordan and the way he spends his money supposedly has put a strain on their relationship and I have a feeling that this story wont make it any easier for them to patch up their friendship.
As for Pippen, who isn’t a fan of Barkley to begin with, he was trying to sue every media outlet last year that reported that he was broke so I have a feeling these two wont be exchanging Christmas gifts in the near future..but according to Barkley, Pippen doesn’t sound like the type that would buy Christmas gifts for friends.
