It’s no secret that the crime rate in Chicago is sad and unacceptable but homicides were down by 18 percent and crimes overall 16 percent last year so that is a great sign and a sign of hope. Unfortunately the sign is not a solution and one of the problems that needs a solution, not just in Chicago but it’s always been a hot topic in Chi-Town, is the crimes committed for sneakers.
I don’t mean to make light of the topic and I’m not going to attach the Shakespeare philosophy of comedy = tragedy + time but here is a pretty amusing and ironic video that happened in Chicago in a very unlikely place. At the recent Raptors and Bulls game, Kyle Lowry threw his game sneakers into the crowd at the only Raptor fan in Chicago and of course a local Chicago resident stepped in and jacked the sneakers.
You might expect to get jacked for you sneakers at a midnight Jordan release event at a mall or maybe in a dark alley by some jealous thugs. But the last place you expect to be jacked for some sneakers is at the Bulls game in front of sign that says “Charities!”
