Are you telling me neither Gary Grant or Mark Jackson ever had a 20 points/20 assists performance? Yes I am because on Saturday night, Chris Paul became the first point guard in franchise history to record 20 points and 20 dimes in the past 30 years and the first Clipper to do it without committing one single turnover.
“He didn’t have any turnovers?” DeAndre Jordan said. “He is a legend, man.”
In the mid 80s, Norm Nixon had two 20/20 games and two more with 18 assists but he had at least two turnovers in each of those games.
“The turnovers,” Said Paul, who also had 5 rebounds and 3 steals. “That’s the first thing I look at every game.”
This is the fifth time this season CP3 had 0 in the turnovers column and, shockingly, the first 20/20 game of his career; Twice he’s been two points or assists shy from the milestone. .
As for the rest of the game, the Clips beat the AD-less Pelicans 133-105, scoring 35+ in three of the four quarters. The most entertaining points of the night came when he dropped center Alexis Ajinca before hitting a shot.
