After dropping a career-high 43 points in a win over the Wolves, a modest sounding CJ McCollum said, “once I get hot, I am tough to guard” during a pretty amusing post-game interview. Well, that’s an understatement. The should be All-Star is tough to guard on a bad night and flat out unguardable when he heats up.
CJ had to step up big in this game since his backcourt partner-in-crime Damian Lillard was out with an injured ankle.
“Without Damian, that’s 28 points and a lot of defensive attention,” said McCollum, who scored 16 of his 43 in the 3rd quarter. “Seven assists, six rebounds, so a lot more energy has to be utilized on my end. I have to try to keep guys involved and take over as a decision maker.”
