6’9 Cliff Alexander (top 3 player in 2014) faced off against 7-footer Stephen Zimmerman (top 2 player in 2015) at the Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavillion. Coming into the game nationally ranked Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) who also features 6’10 Chase Jeter was heavily favored over Chicago public HS Curie but Kansas-bound Cliff Alexander led Curie to a 66-62 win with 22 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks. Coaches Rick Pitino (Louisville) and Mike Krzyzewski (Duke) were among the many notable college coaches watching in the crowd.
Stephen Zimmerman finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Chase Jeter had six points and nine rebounds for Bishop Gorman, which was ranked No. 11 in USA Today’s Super 25 at the time.
