Comparing Greatness: Kobe Bryant & Derek Jeter’s Similar Careers
I wont bore you with another Kobe vs Michael Jordan post. I wont show you another video or pic of Derek Jeter with Michael Jordan or wearing Jordans. But how about a Kobe comparison to Derek Jeter?
Sounds silly until you start looking at the similar accomplishments between the two greats who both collect checks from the house that Jordan built.
- They started their careers around the same time
- Jeter played in 14 All-Star games and Kobe 16
- Jeter’s postseason win % is .614. Kobe’s is also .614
- Both have 7 finals appearances
- Jeter has 1 champion series MVP. Kobe 2.
- Both have 5 championships
If that wasn’t creepy enough, check out their career earnings.
And when Kobe does retire you can create a similar endorsement commercial with Frank Sinatra singing “My Way” in the background
But just don’t put Gatorade and Kobe together. Not only does Kobe endorse competitor Body Armor but he’s not a fan of Jeter and Michael Jordan’s sports drink.
After LeBron’s cramping in the NBA Finals, Kobe posted this on Instagram: “Pro and college players should be allowed to CHOOSE what sports drink hydrates them the best and not be FORCED to drink LEAGUE SPONSORS. #AthletesChoice 2 much on the line for cramping #UpgradeYourSportsDrink @drinkbodyarmor #AthletesFirst.”
One area where they differ is in the relationship department. Derek Jeter has been linked with half of the women on your top 10 fantasy list so I’m sure he has the ‘Re2pect’ from every single (and married) man in the world.
But as a married guy (13 years) with 2 daughters, I gotta ‘Re2pect’ what Kobe has – two daughters and a beautiful wife who’s willing to put up with a lot of $hit.
