Mike Caffey, Dominique Dunning and Gelaun Wheelright led the way in a total team effort to defeat national powerhouse Mater Dei High school in a semi-final game. They are simply known as the “big 3” on Corona Centennial. Each played their part in a game to remember. At one point Mater Dei was up 44-29 by the stellar play of USC commit Katin Reinhardt. Reinhardt at times seemed like the only guy stepping up to the challenge against a much smaller Corona Centennial team. A 20-2 run late in the game pushed Corona to a down to the last shot victory and a championship game for the CIF Southern Section championship. Both teams will automatically qualify for the regionals and a hope to make it to the state championship. Caffey Finished with 25.
