Another Cousins in the NBA? I’m sure the refs are going to love this!
I’m kidding, but I am serious about DeMarcus Cousins’ little (as in 6’11, 250 pounds little) brother, Jaleel, getting a deal with the Dallas Mavs today, which means they know have the D-League version of DeMarcus Cousins and Steph Curry! I’m obviously joking again and all jokes aside, I’m very happy for the undrafted center from University of South Florida. He averaged close to 9 points and 8 rebounds in college and 5 and 3 for the Mavs in the Orlando Summer League. He also got a summer tryout with his brother’s team.
Although they do look alike, they have a very different game.
“DeMarcus dribbles, shoots; he’s like a big guard,” Jaleel said to the SacBee. “Me, I’m kind of strictly post. I don’t try to dance with the ball as much because I don’t feel too comfortable, so I’d rather give the ball up to the guards and let them do their job.
Once I get going, you might see flashes of DeMarcus out of me, but at the end of the day I’m still Jaleel.”
Jaleel will most likely start his pro career in the D-League as a member of the Texas Legends.
