Thanks to a “clerical error in the NBA’s active list reporting” Damian Lillard had to face Chris Paul and the Clippers without the services of his healthy and ready-to-play teammate C.J. McCollum. The result was a 98-109 loss for Portland.
“I signed the paper without really noticing it, but it’s my fault for not looking at it,” Blazers Coach Stotts said. “Although we caught the error, we thought we’d caught it in time, apparently we did not, so CJ was ruled inactive, and that’s that.”
Lillard, who plays the son of Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan in the “Meet The Hoopers” State Farm ads, did his best against his fictional parents and finished with 20 points and 9 assists but connected on just 7 of 25 shots. Chris Paul had a game-high 21 points and season-high 19 assists. Many of those assist going to his back court teammate with a 2 letter abbreviated name, J.J. Redick, who had 20 on 8 of 13 shooting.
Mommy DeAndre had here way with the Blazers with 14 points (6 of 7 shooting) and 14 rebounds.
