Here’s an understatement.  Damian Lillard had a pretty good season.  It officially ended last night with a loss to the Spurs but Lillard reminded the media afterwards that most people didn’t think they would get that far anyways.

“A lot of people had us ninth or 10th in the West, they didn’t think we would be able to compete the way that we did. We worked hard, we believed in ourselves. Tied for the fourth seed, ended up being fifth and won a First Round series,” Lillard said. “We competed really hard against an elite team like the Spurs, and nobody picked us to be here. We’re not settling for a moral victory, but we’re proud of what we were able to get done this season.”

The proud first time All-Star also recently signed a deal with Adidas that is believed to be one of the biggest in history ($100 million +) but it’s not the contracts, the common game-winner, the more common spectacular highlights (as seen in the video above), his willingness to compete in every single All-Star event, or even his 4-bar Friday’s that makes Lillard so worthy of any and all recognition that he’s finally getting.  It’s things like his involvement with the Boys & Girls Club, coaching in the Special Olympics Unified Sports Game and winning the KIA community Assist Award that makes him a great person.  Yeah, that might be understatement too.
