I loved Byron Scott in the 80s when he was the best dunker on the Showtime Lakers. I liked him the 90s when he was a vet on the Shaq Lakers and a mentor to Kobe Bryant. Now, let’s just say I’ve cancelled my membership to the Scott fan club and I’m not going to renew until he unleashes the beast that is Julius Randle and chills out a little on the “man up” talk with the young guns on the team like D’Angelo Russell.
“I think at times you’ve got to leave him alone and at other times you have to talk with him. But I’ve got to treat him like a man,” Scott said before the game. “Sometimes that might be a little harsh, but he’s got to learn. As I told the guys last week, the NBA stands for `No Boys Allowed.’ It’s a man’s game.
On Friday night that man had 17 points against the Raptors and Randle had a double double of 18 and 12 in 30 minutes. So what’s my beef? Randle only played 30 minutes and only attempted 9 shots.
