After watching Julius Randle go down in the first game of last season, seeing this year’s rookie, D’Angelo Russell, hit the floor hard and leave with an injury had Laker fans feeling scared and cursed. Good news is it’s just a “bruised glute” for Russell.
“I just tried to come across with help defense and made contact with a bigger guy,” said Russell after the game. “I just fell wrong. I didn’t want to give up the easy lay-up and I tried to contest it. I just got caught and landed on my tailbone.”
Russell said he “feels fine” and would be able to play in the next preseason game.
