It’s a shame to see a historic night like the one Darius Morris had for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers last night go to waste but Morris’ 51 points and 18 assists wasn’t enough to pull out a victory in OT against the Iowa Energy (145-142).

Coming off a season high 29 points in game 1, the former Laker/76er/Clipper and Grizzly came out on fire and had 15 points and 8 assists in the first quarter.  He finished the night shooting 17 of 26 and 7 of 10 from downtown in 45 minutes. The 51 point performance was the 2nd highest in D-League playoffs history (Darius Rice has the record with 52) and his 18 assists set a new postseason record.

Granted these numbers came in the D-League and not the NBA but just to show how insane those numbers are, only 4 players have ever recorded a 50/10 (assists) game – Jordan, Tony Parker, Stephon Marbury and LeBron James (twice).  LeBron has the highest assists total (12) with 50+ points.  Jordan has the highest point total (57) with 10+ assists.
