It was 22 years ago when 6’0″ Dee Brown pumped up his Reebok kicks and won the NBA slam dunk contest with the “No See Dee” dunk. Reebok celebrated the memorable performance by hosting the Pump Omni Lite Dunk Contest at Rucker Park earlier this month. The contest was between EBC high flyers Mr Afrika and Kiwan “Smooth” Smith but the highlight of the day was watching 44 year old Dee Brown pump up his kicks and throw down a few dunks…in his jeans.
I remember being shocked in 1991 that a 6 footer was dunking the way Dee Brown was but the fact that he’s in his mid 40s and still dunking off the glass is just ridiculous. JR Smith and legendary hip-hop producer Pete Rock were also in attendance for the Reebok celebration.
(the song in the video is “Blood on the Leaves” by Kanye off the Yeezus album)
