When DeMar DeRozan hit a tear drop circus shot near the end of the 3rd quarter of the Raptors and Celtics game, one of my all-time favorite Allen Iverson shots/moments came to mind.
About a decade ago, during a game between the 76ers and Magic, Dwight Howard blocked an after the whistle shot by Allen Iverson, the ball bounced back to AI, who then launched a to-the-heavens shot that spent 3 seconds in the air before swishing through the net. Like DeMar’s shot, Iverson’s circus shot didn’t count on the scoreboard, but it sure counted in the cool points department.
Speaking of the Raptors and 76ers, on this day in 2001, Iverson returned from a knee, elbow and hip injury and dropped 51 on the Raptors. Vince Carter had 39 points, 10 boards and 8 assists in the OT win for the Raptors.
