DeMarcus Cousins Fouls Out On Westbrook Poster Dunk, Facing 1-Game Suspension For Latest Tech
DeMarcus Cousins only played 21 minutes before fouling out of Sunday’s game against the Thunder but it was a very eventful 21 minutes.
Within the first minute of the game (32 seconds to be exact), the Pelicans’ center picked up his 18th tech of the season, which will result in an automatic one-game suspension if it’s not rescinded. He then picked up two quick personal fouls in the following minute, which led to him sitting out the rest of the opening quarter.
When he returned in the 2nd, he returned with a vengeance and would rack up 31 points and 10 boards before fouling out with a little more than two minutes left in regulation. His final foul came while trying to block a vicious dunk by Russell Westbrook.
“It don’t matter how many fouls,” Said Westbrook, who finished with another triple-double (41/11/11) and a career-best 21 in the final quarter. “It didn’t matter. I just jumped, and it went in to finish it.”
A frustrated Cousins finished the game with 31 points and 1o boards in just 21 minutes.
“I have to find a way to play through it,” Said Cousins when asked about playing throuhg foul trouble. “I have to fight through the adversity and ignore the negativity and just do what’s best for the team.”
The Pelicans are now 0-3 with Cousins.
