NBA GMs selected Dennis Smith Jr as the biggest steal of the draft and had him third to win Rookie of the Year. According to his fellow rookies, Smith is the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. Charles Barkley even thinks he’s a “stud” and a good candidate for the award.  And considering his situation in Dallas, if he continues to get the green light, don’t be surprised to see him become the second Maverick to ever win the award; Jason Kidd shared the honor with Grant Hill in 1995.

On Monday, he put up a team-highs of 16 points and 7 assists to go with 6 boards, a block and a steal in 26 minutes of action in a win against the Orlando Magic. He was 7-of-15 from the floor, 2-of-6 from three and threw down one dunk that got the internet excited even though he’s going to have a dunk just as good or better every single game.
