It was March 28, 1995 when we officially considered Michael Jordan “back” after returning from his first retirement. Although Jordan hit a game winner in his 4th game back, it was Jordan’s 5th game since joining the Bulls mid-season on the big Broadway stage in the big apple taking on the Knicks where MJ showed the world what they have been missing while he was playing baseball. Jordan torched the Knicks for 55 points including 35 in the first half. The 55 remains the most points ever scored against the Knicks at MSG.
Here we are in 2013 and the new franchise player, Rose, is playing in just his 2nd game since missing an entire season. I wish I could say Rose had a huge first half like MJ and fantasy stats throughout the game but Rose only made 7 of 23 shots but the 7th shot would be the shot heard around the world. It was a floater with 5.7 seconds left over the hands of two Knicks that gave the Bulls the 1 point victory and caused millions of basketball fans to celebrate the return of Derrick Rose and yell “he’s back!”
Yes, the fat lady has sung.
