Devin Booker Scores 39 vs Lakers, Back-To-Back Career Scoring Nights
Two days after scoring a clutch career-high 38 points in an OT win over the Pelicans, Devin Booker scored 39 against the Lakers. 29 of the new career-high was in the second half, after starting the game ice-cold and missing 9 of 12 first half shots.
“Doesn’t matter,” Booker said after the game, which turned out to be a 108-119 loss. “It’s another game, especially if we lose. If we get a win, I’m more excited about it. Everybody looks good when you win, and that’s what we’re trying to do. Scoring as many points as you want and not making the playoffs isn’t a good look.”
It may not be a good luck for the team but it looks good to Booker fans, Suns fans, general basketball fans, fantasy basketball fans, female fans (if you didn’t know, he has a very huge female fan base) and a certain former Laker great, who is also a fan.
The last time Booker and the Lakers played, Kobe Bryant gave him a pair of his shoes and wrote, “Be Legendary” on them. Bryant was also full of praise for the then rookie.
“I mean he went straight to my move the first time he caught it,” Bryant said. “You’re not going to beat me on my move, man. But it was great to see. It was absolutely great to see because I remember I did the same thing to MJ.”
