In 39 minutes against the Blazers on Sunday, 37 year old Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points and became 1 of just 4 players – all NBA legends – in the last 50 years to have scored 40 at the age of 37 or older;  Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Karl Malone are the other 3 greats.

  • Dirk Nowitzki at Age 37 (3.20.16): 40 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals (16-26 fg, 5-5 ft)
  • Karl Malone  at Age 39 (3.12.03): 40 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals (12-19 fg, 16-22 ft)
  • Michael Jordan at Age 40 (2.21.03): 43 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists (18-30 fg, 7-8 ft)
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at Age 39 (3.16.86): 43 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals (16-24 fg, 11-16 ft)
