Before Deron Williams hit a game-winning 3 at the buzzer to give the Mavs a double OT victory over the Kings, Dirk Nowitzki hit a clutch 3 with 26 seconds left in the extra session to bring the Mavs within 2. The 3 was Dirk’s best shot of the night but not the most memorable. No, that honor goes to a meaningless first quarter missed dunk attempt during a dead ball.
The NBA on TNT Twitter account tweeted a video of the dunk FAIL and asked if Dirk “can jump over a phonebook?”
The 37 year old high-flyer replied with a great explanation.
