Congrats to Dirk for scoring his 25,280 career point last night in an exciting win over the Rockets. The points moved him pass Reggie Miller for 15th on the all-time scoring list. Kevin Garnett at 25,340 points is next on Dirk’s list to pass up and at the rate the two are scoring, it shouldn’t take long for that to happen. Kobe Bryant, at 4th, is the only other active player ahead of Dirk.
Dirk and Monta Ellis became the first Mavs to share 30+ point games since 2/3 (Mash & Kidd) of the Three J’s did it back in 1995 also against the Rockets. The significance of that double OT game was Kidd hit 8 3-pointers and at that time was still known as Ason Kidd (without the J). Here’s highlights of Kidd’s monster triple double from the 156-147 Mavs win.
