Before Gerald Green, before Kevin Garnett and even before JR Rider, the original high flyer on the Timberwolves was a skinny 6’7″ poster maker named Doug West. A frequent star on NBA Jam Session segements back when Inside Stuff was a fun show worth watching, West also appeared in the not so memorable 1992 NBA dunk contest.

He would go on to play 11 years in the league and although he was never known for much more than dunking — despite being the franchise’s all-time leading scorer until KG came around — 11 years out of a 2nd round pick is pretty impressive.

West is currently a coach in the NBA D-League.
