On Friday night, Draymond Green joined Hakeem Olajuwon and Derrick Coleman as the only players in the last 40 season to to record at least 20 points, 10 boards, five assists, five steals, and five blocks in a game. Green did have 50 minutes in a double OT thriller to pull this off but we aren’t going to hold that against him.
Here’s how his stat line compared with the other two.
GREEN: 24 pts, 11 rebs, 8 asts, 5 stls, 5 blks (50 mins)
DREAM: 29 pts, 18 rebs, 9 asts, 5 stls, 11 blks (40 mins)
DC: 21 pts, 10 rebs, 7 asts, 5 stls, 5 blks (45 mins)
One thing that does separate Green’s numbers from the other 2 is Green had 2 3-pointers. Out of the 27 instances of players having 5 x 4 games (20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks and 5 steals), Green is the only player to make a 3-pointer in the same game. He also had about 10 chest thumps which is unofficially 9 more than Derrick Coleman. Of those 27 instances, Hakeem had 19 of them – the most impressive being a 24 points, 21 rebound, 12 block, 5 steal night. Green, Coleman, Michael Jordan, Shaq, David Robinson and Antonio McDyess have 1 and Dwight Howard did it twice.
AK47 – THE 5X5 KING
Green’s performance is also just the 7th time a 5×5 has been done in the past 20 years and Andrei Kirilenko is responsible for 3 of them.
Here’s the fantasy winning stat lines from AK’s three 5×5 games
- 2003: 19 pts 5 rebs 7 asts 5 blks 8 stls
- 2003: 10 pts 12 rebs 6 asts 5 blks 6 stls
- 2006: 14 pts 8 rebs 9 asts 7 blks 6 stls
If that wasn’t impressive enough, he was once just a block shy of doing it a 4th time with this monster line.
- 2007: 20 pts, 11 rebs, 11 asts, 6 stls, 4 blks
