The ShawShaq Redemption! That’s the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the #20 All-American Game jersey for the upcoming 2016 Ballislife game. If you don’t know what the ShawShaq Redemption is, it’s what 90s Orlando Magic commentators Jack Givens and Chip Carrey would yell when Brian Shaw would throw an alley-oop to Shaquille O’Neal.
The next image that pops in my end while looking at the Eastbay made jerseys is memories of Penny Hardaway making a no-look pass to Nick Anderson or Dennis Scott at the 3-point line or a behind the back pass to Horace Grant or Shaq for a dunk. Or Penny just faking a defender and finishing the play himself with a posterizing dunk on 7 footer like Patrick Ewing or Hakeem The Dream.
If you want to learn more about the young should have been a dynasty Orlando team, then check out this recent 30 for 30 about them.
If you want to see some young future NBA stars showing out while wearing the best looking Orlando Magic jersey from the 90s, check out our 2016 All-American game (Live at 730 PM EST on Ballislife.com).
And here’s a tribute video I made about a decade ago about the ShawShaq Redemption days.
