With all the controversy going on in the Hawks’ front office, not much noise will be made of them resigning former #1 pick Elton Brand to a 1-year $2 million contract. Brand had career lows of 5.7 points and 4.9 rebounds last season in Atlanta and I wouldn’t bet much that he does much more in his 16th season, but around 10 years ago, I was willing to gamble on Elton Brand every season in every fantasy draft because he was an absolute beast with the Clippers, especially during his 2005/06 All-Star one.
During that season, Brand and his Flintstones feet averaged a career high 24.7 points to go with 10 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. Here’s a few gems from that season that benefited every fantasy owner that believed in Brand.
- vs Hornets: 38pts 20rebs 3blks 5asts
- vs Jazz: 35pts 14rebs 7blks 4asts
- vs Grizzlies: 44pts 9rebs 2blks
- vs Heat: 37pts 12rebs 6blks
- vs Suns: 34pts 15rebs 1blk
The Clips also went to the 2nd round of the Playoffs where Brand scored 30+ in 4 straight games and dropped 40 on the Suns.
