In honor of the day the city of Miami was granted a NBA franchise, i’m going to look back at my favorite moments in Heat history – keep in mind i’m not and never was a big Heat fan.
#1 on my list might seem a little strange but it’s when the Heat signed Alonzo Mourning to a 7 year $105 million deal in 1996. The reason why isn’t because they made Zo the first $100 million man in the NBA but because it made Shaq ask for more money from the Orlando Magic and between that, Zo’s contract, polls in the Orlando Sentinel, Penny Hardaway and Shaq’s desire to be a big fish in a big pond, O’Neal ended up on the Lakers where he would eventually win 3 championships.
1996 was also a good year for the Heat because they hired this video department manager who also ended up being pretty important for the franchise.
So here’s my other personal favorite Heat moments.
