I was one of those people who said the addition of Derrick Williams (and Deron Williams) was going to pay off for the Cavs. And for a few weeks in February, I was right. Williams looked great and was scoring in double figures while shooting over 40% from three. LeBron even praised the former #2 pick by saying, “We’re luck to have him.”

Then came March, Williams struggled to get PT and the Cavs looked as bad as I’ve ever seen them with LeBron. Then came the playoffs, where Williams racked up a bunch of DNPs and his best game came in GM2 of the NBA Finals, when he scored 5 points on 2 of 3 shooting in 3 minutes vs the Warriors.

Here we are in the summer. The Cavs are making blockbuster trades, trying to convince LeBron to keep his talents in Cleveland and Williams is showcasing his talents and three-point shot, hoping for another shot with the Cavs or another team.

According to Amico Hoops, Williams has ‘drawn little interest outside of Cleveland” and the Cavs may bring him back on a one-year deal for $2.4 million.

Besides having a nice outside shot, he’s a pretty nasty dunker.
