Gerald Green has been a favorite of the city of Houston since he was averaging close to a triple-double at Gulf Shores Academy and throwing down better dunks than Tracy McGrady was doing in a Houston Rockets’ uniform. On Monday, the former Celtic became an even bigger favorite of the city when he did his best to help his fellow Houstonians by driving around in a boat around the Sagemont area of Houston, looking for Hurricane Harvey victims in need of transportation to a safer place.

In the following IG live video, you can see the damage done by Harvey as Green pleads with listeners in the area to not stay in their flooded and unsafe homes.

As a resident of Houston since 2000, I loved seeing the “The Four Fingered Assassin” play the role of a hero but I don’t want to single him out too much because thousands of other local Houstonians deserve equal props for their efforts and acts of heroism over the past few days.
