On this day in history, back in 1986, Manute Bol had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 15 blocks in a game. Shocking right? But not as shocking and nowhere near as impressive as what Miami’s Hassan Whiteside did today. Whiteside almost matched Bol with 12 blocks but played just 25 minutes! If that wasn’t crazy enough, Whiteside had 14 points and 13 rebounds to give him the first 12/12/12 triple double since Shawn Bradley did it back in 1997.

“It’s a blessing. Like I told my teammates, you won’t believe how things work out in life,” said Whiteside. “Three months ago I was at the downtown Y just chilling, working on my game. I couldn’t get a team to pick up the phone.”

Look at him now – doing his best to raise up his NBA 2k rating.
