Hawks unveil statue honoring Dominique Wilkins, Larry Bird jokes the statue wont be in a defensive stance

Almost exactly 30 years after the day Larry Bird dropped 60 points on the Hawks and had their bench celebrating, the legendary trash talker dropped another classic on the Hawks when he made the following joke about the Hawks statue honoring Dominique Wilkins “I’m pretty sure it’s not made in a defensive stance.”

In honor of Nique, I’m not going to show any footage of GM7 from the 88 playoffs. Instead, I’m just going to show you a clip of The Human Highlight Film posterizing Bird and a mix of Nique outscoring Bird 54 – 24 in a 1987 game.

So now let’s hear some praise for Nique by the current Hawks, Atlanta fans and other former players.
