Mike Woodson announced yesterday that Iman Shumpert would have to compete with JR Smith for the starting shooting guard spot on the Knicks, so his perfect shooting performance last night could not have come at a better time. In 25 minutes of PT, Shump scored a game-high 18 points on 7 for 7 from the field, including 3 for 3 from downtown and 1 for 1 from the charity stripe.
Pretty good for a guy that NBADraft.net said was a “very poor shooter” and “not efficient at all” on offense in their pre-draft scouting report. It’s good to see the league’s best rapper proving critics wrong on the court.
The Knicks also came out with a 1 point victory thanks to Tim Hardaway Jr’s jumper at the buzzer.
