What is Isaiah Thomas going to do for an encore? I feel like I’ve been saying that for the past two weeks, since he dropped a franchise-high 29th quarter points during his career-high 52 performance before the New Year.

Thomas followed up that game with 29 points and a career-high 15 assists in a win against the Jazz. After a mediocre game (24 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 7 turnovers) vs the 76ers, Thomas connected on 6 threes and finished with 38 points in a win against the Pelicans. He had 27 and 7 in a loss to the Raptors, then bounced back by dropping 20 of his 38 in the 4th quarter of a victory against John Wall and the Wizards. So what does he do for an encore? On Friday night, he scored 28 points, dished out 9 assists and completed his 13 point 4th quarter with a game-winning jumper.

The last player picked in his draft, who is averaging 9.9 points in the 4th quarter (most since 1996), isn’t just showing he belong on this year’s All-Star team, he’s showing he deserves a few MVP votes.
