While covering the Seattle Pro-Am this summer for the Jamal Crawford documentary, we obviously got a lot of highlights of JCrossover and became bigger fans but we also became bigger fans of the often underrated Isaiah Thomas, who put on a show game after game, and had us all saying how lucky the Suns are to have his services this season.
Last night against Kobe & the Lakers, he gave the Suns fans something to cheer about when he scored 26 points off the bench including a buzzer beating shot to force OT. After hitting the shot, he turned around and playfully stared down Floyd Money Mayweather who was sitting courtside. That moment alone was worth way more than the price of admission.
When the Suns pulled off the sign and trade deal to get Thomas back in June, Suns’ GM Ryan McDonough said,
“Isaiah is one of the most dynamic scorers and playmakers in the NBA. I have always admired his competitive spirit and his love for the game. He will be a great fit for our up-tempo attack and he will help solidify what we believe is the best backcourt in the league.”
I can’t call it the “best” but I’ll call it the “most underrated.”
