Villanova-Bound Jalen Brunson Wins State Title in Emotional Final HS Game, Scoring 30!

Players in this post:
Jalen Brunson

Jalen Brunson led Illinois preseason favorite Stevenson HS (Lincolnshire, IL) to its first State Basketball title. In their third consecutive trip downstate to Peoria, the Patriots become the first team in Lake County history to win a basketball title.
Brunson scored 30 in the title game leading Stevenson (30-3) to a 57-40 win over Normal, setting new high-scoring record for Class 4A final. Jalen Brunson averaged 23 points, five rebounds and four assists this season.
Headed to Villanova next season, Illinois' best player finishes his high school career with 2682 points. A McDonald's All-American and US National gold-medal winner, Brunson won over 100 games at Stevenson. Winning the state championship puts a cap on the career of Illinois high school basketball all-time greats.
As soon as the game ended, you'll see Jalen embrace his parents. Father Rick Brunson was a McDonalds high school All American (like Jalen) before starring at Temple and playing 9 NBA seasons on 8 teams.
